Hi, well lets start with the start^^. I were leave the house around 11:45 but yea, then the bad luck begun. Had to return since I forgot the claim check for the antenndie badge, so I ended up late at the main trainstation but thankfully still in time. Marcus was patcient and waited for me, thank you Marcus! So we quickly got us the required ticket and got on the train to Colonge, so far so good. In Colonge for random reason 2 of the trains we could use (according to my DB app and also the offical time tables hanging out) showed never up, nor was there any info on a change of tracks. But the third train we could take and made our way to Bonn. Arrived in Bonn we were going by foot towards the eventside. On the way we made a short stop at the usual chinese restaurant, Mr. DingDing (no joke, its really named like this ;), to fetch us some fried noodles with veggies to fill the stomach. After that we got our attendie badges, and then we made our way into the halls. The programm this year is massiv disappointing, most of the movies of intrest i cant watch since they run at late times (20:30 and later). Anyway, first stop, Bring&Buy. Made my first purchases there, some random Hentai thingie (looked fun), The Mysterious Cities of Gold, and Moldiver. Marcus got himself finally the complete set FLCL! After that we hit the hals and took a peek into some stuff. But yea, nothing really outstanding. Took a few pictures, but a lot less then normal, even for a friday. Then we switched a bit between in and outside, and I did some more shopping art bring&buy, and got me: Tokyo Godfathers SP, Tenchi Muyo Ryo Oki and Gallforce Eternal Story. We met Scripty before we left, had a talk and headed out for the station. While on way to the train station, we made a brief stop at the Kaufhof Galeria, so I could look up if they have my rootbeer. And YES, they had A&W rootbeer, the good stuff for reasonable pricing! Did buy 6 cans and we moved on to the trainstaion. Just when we bought our beer and were going up to the waiting area for the train, we saw the train is there and jumped in. So we got pretty much early to Colonge and got the 2nd beer, and then enjoyed ourself a bit in front of the dome. Well, then we headed up for the waiting place, but had a wrong time memorised for the train to leave. Sio we ended up missing it, and I was already quite tispy (I blame not enough eating and warm beer^^), so we got ourselfs some munchies and had our fun. To wait for the next connection, we moved to a kinda of small restaurant, were i kept myself to some coke, we dont have to overdo it^^. Well, the next train we got without fail, and yea, I got in one piece home. Just my facial muscles hurts a bit from laughing a lot. Here is some video for you:

So, a bit late but better then neva ;). Well it started like every other day early, bit more early since we had to move the stuff back to the car. So, yea the usual routine, showering/coffee making, enjoying coffee, twittering a bit. Then started packing things in the best ways I could imagine (lil spoiler, I was pretty near perfection, the trolly’s weight was 51 lbs of 50 lbs allowed, but no charge, thank you Delta Airlines!). Then we moved the things to the car, and got towards the Comic Con. The busses were kinda stuck again, so we walked one more day. Arrived at the Comic Con, we parted ways, Tori towards panels, me towards getting my ticket. After that it was my first panel, “Entertaining One’s Inner Child”. Was cool, but when they started questions, I switched over to 26AB and so catched a bit of the end of “CAC #13: Queer Comics”, was not too bad either. Anyway, after that my marked panel started, “CAC #14: Superhero as American Ideal”. It was nice, just the 2nd presentation during it was boring. The speaker had no presentation and since I was a lil bit sleeping, she nearly talked me into sleep. Not that it was bad, but still… dunno. After that it was hitting the halls for more goodies and stuff. Fetched me for example a Star Treck Pin (will give it to a collegue at work, he will love it i think), a Star Treck wrist clock, and some other stuff. Also brought some out of print anime OVA’s for 15$ each, nice deal^^. Met up with Torianna later, and we were out for a lil bit shopping together. She was so nice to get me Kathey Reichs latest book “206 Bones” with signature and dedication, BIG THANKS Torianna! I gave her my “Soul Music” from Terry Pratchet (sadly not signed or dedication). Gotta revenge properly one day! Got her some fun t-shirt, and we got us also some fun photos^^. When the hall was closing we moved ourselfs outside, and waited for ndbag and Midz. While waiting, Tori was so nice and booked us a hotel in LA, so we could catch us some proper sleep before I depart. Somehow, ndbag and Midz managed it to get out of the con halls without us noticing. Well, we followed, and discussed about the dinner. Midz raised the idea, we should get to the hotel, fetch the car and then follow. So we followed that, and after some confusing drive (I blame “Balboa”!) we finally made it to “Phil’s BBQ“, a great place for rips and stuff. Ther ethe “traditional” end of con dinner is hold by Midz, ndbag & their gang ;). And yes, it was a yummy and good meal we had. After the meal, we were standing outside, talking a bit, and signing a postcard for “unique”, a friend on IRC. She couldnt be with us, so we decided for the postcard option. Also Tori wanted one for her collection, so we did her the favor. After a lil bit more talking ,we took of towards LA. Shitty traffic on the highway… and then some random flight from china or whatever had problems. So it took us ages to check in and get sleep~~. Anyway, that was Day 4. It was a great holiday, and really enjoyable!!! Thanks goes out the Torianna for taking good care of me and beeing a great friend! Also to Midz, ndbag, the finns, Kaizoku, and all the other people I forget here, THANK YOU GUYS! You made my holidays in the US great and a really enjoyable time that I needed! *BIG CUDDLE* So, thats it, til next time!

Puh, today we got things more relaxed to work. Well a bit it was also forced upon us… After breakfast I did some video posting to twitter/tube and met up with Torianna. Thought she would be already be gone, but for some reason it seems the busses, which were supposed to get us towards the convention got stuck for whatever reason. After a short while the decision was there, lets go by foot. That said we were on our way, had a really nice talk while going there and made it for 10:10 i think. Then our ways parted, she was off to her first panel, while I had still time until mine and got fetching up my daily badge for the day ;p. That done and some fotos later I was finally in the room for the panel about “Batman and the empty nest syndrom”. I didn’t understood actually everything (had luck, got in while they were still naming the people doing the panel), since i’m not a big batman follower, but it actually turned up some intresting points for me to think about. Thats why I would consider it win for me. That done I got out taking more video/foto/doing casual shopping. Finally got my chance to get a video of someone playing “Abobo’s Big Adventure”, video is still uploading so no vid yet. Got in contact with one of the developers and have later to twitter him the video links, so he can use them. Spread the word about it, it should be out around december! That done I got on, and ended eventually up at the ndbag’s place, and got the information that we later go and grab some lunch with him and midz. So far so good, so a short while later we were on our way. When we arrived there, we got a beeper (kinda like the normal pager thingies), to tell us when the table is ready. For those not familar with the us and restaurants, u often have to wait for a table since the places are so crowded. Ok, so we waited and I finally got the chance to get me (thanks to Midz) one of those extreme big backpack/tote combination thingies. While we waited I took more pictures, a video (some guys where cosplaying packman and the ghosts), and we obtained even more bags ^^. When we got in (without Torianna that time, she arrived a bit later since of her workshop and Doria sadly was unavilable), it was just great. We had some appetisers, there was a nice atmosphere, and then Tori arrived. I had a soup, a chicken breast in a wonderful wine sauce along with spagetti with a nice cheese. It was just haven, Midz und ndbag really now great places to eat around here!! After lunch we figured (it got actually a bit late lunch), that we missed our planned panel (was only 15 min left). So, yea, me and Tori got to the exhibit hall and enjoyed ourselfs with shopping, shop/event side browsing and collectiong things. I got a “Free hugs” T-Shirt with the signature of the designer, the first 2 parts of Sam&Max from Tellatale games for a good price. So everything was just good :p. Dropped Torianna at ndbags booth since she was pretty much dead, and continued my journey to get more adult stuff, the ex-driver perfect collection dvd, and some more pics until the exhibit halls closes. All in all I got a nice bunch of things today also featuring 3 new comics “Bob the angry flower” and “Amelia Rulez”, both signed by the author, and more goodies. Tori was totally happy that she found 2 new gundam modelkits to build, and also bought some more manga. Btw, we were in luck, the woman reconised me, and gave us a free FMA bag (usually u get those for 100$ or more purchases), since I bought the day before stuff there. I think she reacted to the fact I said for fun “I dragged her here so she can also grab some nice stuff”. Whatever works ;p. Anyway, with the exhibit halls closing we left with ndbag, but parted ways since he was still attending some panel until dinner. We got back, unloaded stuff, I uploaded more stuff, twittered and got us some energydrink to keep us awake. After that we met up with the finns, aswell as ndbag and Midz for dinner in the “In’N'out Burger” place. It took us a while to get there and a phone call, but yea it was fun. Talked a bit with midz friend, nice girl. Then we got to a Irish punk (without Midz and friend, both wanted to rather catch some sleep), and enjoyed us for some time with the finns. Dunno, while I and Tori got into the mood, the finns were still seeming to me a bit stiff and sleepy… ohwell, I get them another time a bit more talktive ;p. Anyway, left early so we dont get tooooooooo late home, and also so that ndbag gets home before 12 pm. That said, I end the report for today and get me sleep!

Ok fellas, this was day 2 of the Comic Con 2010 here in the beautiful downton San Diego, CA, USA. The day begun early, I was at around 9:30 at the site and picking up my badge. After that I got into the extreme long line for the Hawaiian Five-o panel. But yea, it was kinda win to get into the panel. Not for the t-shirt but for the series, since it actually catched my intrest, and so I will give it a try when the offical pilot episode is out. Those who wanna know more of the remake of this classic (well for the US fellows) tv series, u wanna go here. After that my failing begun. I missed the “Cartoon Network: Comedy Animation” panel, seems I lost a bit track of time. Then were going to the “Comics in Theory” panel, but the presenter was actually british, and not enough with my problem with the british accent, she was talking so fast I couldnt follow her really. So I left early to pickup my t-shirt, which was to claim in the Marriot Hotel next to the covention site. So far so good, but I lost time through that. The idea was to go and fetch the t-shirt, go back and go to next panel… yea… the plan, actually I was so late, that the panel was running already like 20 min by the time I got there. Oh well, met up with Torianna after that, escortet her to the Marriot for the workshop. In the meanwhile I was texting with Kaizoku, my leader over at Zero-Raws, since we figure yesterday that he is pretty much near to the con place. Near in terms of living near to it, so we could actually meet up, since I’m here anyway. Appearntly he just came back form work, and yea… going anywhere near the conside with a car is a bad idea at all. So we did text a while and later on decided to meet up at the Jack-in-the-Box near our Inn. Was kinda fun, since when I got there I was kinda wondering were he might be. Saw that one guys standing there, but since we never exchanged actually how the other looks (well, I never asked for his looks at least ^^), it was kinda patt. We resolved that after an additional text message from my side and fetched us something to eat. I must say Kaizoku is a nice man, I really like him. He was a bit different from the image I had but I learned that is often the case (no harm intended). Well, after around an hour we parted way since he had an appointment to take care of. So I got back to the con side, did more phototaking, some shopping and got back to the ndbag’s place. After a short while they packed their things and we lleft the exhibit halls to pickup Torianna. While the wait, I bought me a new T-Shirt featuring “The Tick”. For more on this fellow, go here or google a bit on your own. I realise now that I know a shitload of random series…. Anyway, back to the topic at hand. We left for some shopping at a japanese supermarket, where I got me some sweets and my calpis with mango flavor. I really like that stuff. Also I got me three bottles ramune with different flavors I couldn’t find at home yet. I will check them out tomorrow and then let you guys know about my opinion. Next stop, bookstore. Got me for 1.09$ a japanese-english dictionary. Good deal, well they closed very soon so we moved on to the next shop. There I bought a sushi rolling mat for a friend and a japanese “no smoking sign”. All for like 1.98$ each. Finished with that we headed for the japanese restaurant were we supposly should met the finns… well. We headed in after a while and our table beeing ready. The finns showed like I would say (after feeling) 15 min up, and we had a very yummy meal and lots of fun with them. I had Kakuni, thats “Porkbelly in a soysauce soup” with white rice as sidedish. It involves a kind of sweet soysauce, and I have to investigate that matter deeper, since I already have ideas for more recepies including that. Also took the chance and tried miso soup. I had a slightly “fishy” (no pun intended) taste but not bad… I liked it. After that we still talked a bit on the parking lot in front of the restaurant, took pictures and drove slowly home. Thats where our reports end. If you wonder what I got me today: I bought from Funimation Tsukuyomi Moon Phase aswell as Kodomo no Omocha, some adult comics, and the earlier mentioned t-shirt. So, enough talking. The video upload is a bit stalled, so yea. originally I wanted to show here some video feed from the con but that have to wait. Til’ tomorrow,

Heya, yes, Day 1 is over and I’m super happy! It was just awesome to see all the stuff and also overwhelming for me. I mean I thought I know a lot but this was MORE then ever before, and its definitly like they say the biggest con of this kind in the US! All together anime plays more a siderole here, but I don’t mind that, since even aside from the anime u can get tons of various goodies, and stuff u wouldnt be able to get that easy your hands on. Got me today 2 new fun-shirts, one saying “Zombie Jesus Save Us – the eyeballs for the last”, and one with a parodie of the NABA logo, saying “Zombie Killer League”. Also some patches for the new bag I plan to get. Tomorrow I will digg a bit more, and yea, nearly forgot, I bought me ndbag’s comic. Live from the creator and with a signature of him! I will definitly go for some more comics, and also maybe some of the games jlist was offering. Also more T-shirt, speaking of those, I hope I get in tomorrow early, since I wanna atned the Hawaii-5 Panel, to get the T-Shirts they give away there. Figurine wise I didnt found my brands yet, but saw great stuff (also anime stuff^^). One seller had even the NGE wrist clock for 99$, but yea, I’m NGE fan but I dont like this kinda merchandise, since it would just lie around. I wouldn’t use it… at least right now i’m not willing to go for it… if they maybe give it to me for less at the end of the con ;p. Putting that aside, we have more intresting panels coming up, and also figured out that Kaizoku is near the con. He is just around the corner… funny Kaiman, I finally can meet him in person tomorrow I hope. For the panels, to go back to the topic of more intrest to you probably, we visited “CAC #2: Transmedia Entertainment”, a very good presentation about how Transmedia works, what exactly Transmedia mean, and what are it’s basic concepts. It was held by Henry Jenkins, and if u want to see more from him, check out his blog at http://www.henryjenkins.org/. The next I attended was going around a topic, which u all know I have a certain intrest in, about copyright. It was called “CAC #4: Recapturing Copyrights”, and was going about a some lawsuits between the hairs and the comic publishing companys. A very intresting thing, since it gave me also a little insight into the american system. It was held by copyright lawer Marc Greenberg from the Golden Gate University School of Law, he did a fine job explaining the cases at hand in a relaxed atmosphere and also good understandable for the non-lawer aka normal human ;). And last but not least, we visited “From Computer Screen to Silver Screen”, a discussion panel for indie producers. Was good too. Yea, besides that I did the earlier mentioned shopping, took tons of pics, and a few vids. Later on we ended the day with ndbag and Midori_Sour at a Korean resturant, and had desert at a frozen yogurt place. Was a great day. When I was back at the hotel wrote cards, twittered a bit, and figured out Kaizoku is like 4 min away. So, yea have to meet him tomorrow. Anyway, tight schedule awaits, so I’m forced to end here!

Enjoy, Death

We also had a madio cosplay cafè there.

When one consider it was the first event and was created out of a “just for fun” idea it was a great con. It was great to see all the ppl again u normally just meet when u’re at those events and also I had the chance to snatch some stuff again ;). Got me a japanese limited edition box of Memories (which even included english subtitles) for a good price. Also like I stated earlier, great for me was the big amount of Madio cosplayers. I have a certain weakness for those, and I think my pictures in the gallery shows that. But also fun was their stage programm, which had some bands (not my taste but hell, they werent too bad), a real good comedian dude making fun of serveral anime (buddy, keep it at this level!!!) aswell as a quit funny cosplay competition and cosplayer auction (where u could bid on a cosplayer so he be at your side for some hours). The money they made was used to cover costs and all thats left after that got donated to social services. I hope they make another one next year, maybe with a bit better planning at some ends. I even think of attending it as a “helper” or staffer if u wanna say so. Another thing I think of is maybe making a small scale subtitle workshop to show the ppl how its done and give ‘em also an idea what amount of work and time is involved in fansubs. But thats future music, thats not realism yet, but if we turn it into realism i will surly cover it with foto or video footage ;). If u wanna now see more pictures, u can click on link in the right side bar, its filed under “Pages -> Galleries -> Dokomi 2009” or just click on the link here.

Yours, Death

PS: ah, forgot the link to the page of the DoKomi, here it is: http://www.dokomi.de/de/ and when u wonder what DoKomi stands for, its Doitsu Komiku Market.
